I get so caught up in the future.

What will happen in the future?
What can happen?
What I want, what I don’t want…

Sometimes these thoughts consume me.

For example: Right now, I badly want to grow HTYC to reach more people and help them make their own transitions to what they really want. I think about it constantly and our team still has a long way to go to impact the amount of people we really want to.

For me, this is one of the things that gets me up in the morning. It’s what I love to do and the impact I want to have on others through my career, but I wouldn’t be doing this if I hadn’t done some of the hard work reflecting on the past.

It’s important to know that your past, if you let it, is what enables your future.

Use your past as a platform for the future no matter what your past is like… Yes this is true, all those things that are rolled up in your past; successes, baggage, events, close calls, experiences, jobs, etc.

All of these can either help you move forward OR help you put up barriers for yourself to not move anywhere. It’s your decision!

You need to harness your past learnings about yourself to build your career into the future.

Today’s actions are all about understanding what the past can do to help you make choices for your career.

The exercise today will not necessarily get you right to making a choice, but instead will provide solid information that you can use to start eliminating possibilities and focusing on the things that fit you!

I have used many variations of this exercise myself, through my personal career transitions and while working with others to do the same.

When you click here you will find a list of 10 questions to help you understand what you love

This alone will get you a higher level of self awareness than most people in this world.

Of course, we won’t stop there… we want to push you further!

We don’t just want you to be a little ahead of most people, we want you to come out on the other side of this with the decision to take the next step in your career. So, there’s a bonus on this exercise.

I would love to hear one or two of your answers. Leave a comment on the page OR hit reply and send me an email (I read every email that comes through!)
