Bio

It was the summer of 2013, and I was driving up to our yurt in the woods — no cell service, no internet, just me and my thoughts. I was frustrated and exhausted in my career. I had spent 16 years in marketing, hopping between different roles and companies, trying to find a job that felt truly fulfilling and didn’t feel like it was sucking the life out of me.  As I scrolled through my downloaded books, Finding Your Own North Star by Martha Beck caught my eye.

By the time I got back to civilization, I wasn’t just reading about purpose, I had signed up for coach training. At the time, I wasn’t planning on becoming a coach. I just wanted to figure out why I always felt out of alignment in my career. Why everyone around me seemed so happy, but I wasn’t.  What I didn’t realize then was that I had spent my entire life coaching people — helping friends and colleagues navigate career transitions, rewriting resumes, and connecting people to opportunities.

That realization changed everything.

My own career has been a series of pivots—proof that it’s possible to successfully reinvent yourself. In addition to my marketing career, I’ve managed a university training program, switched industries to become a recruiter, and when I still didn’t feel like I had found my place, I thought, Maybe I just need to work for myself. So I launched a marketing consulting business, thinking entrepreneurship was the answer.

It turns out, running my own business wasn’t the magic solution either (at least not when I accidentally recreated my draining career in a new business I was supposed to love). But after years of searching for my own career fit, I finally found it in coaching. Helping people uncover their strengths, break through limiting beliefs, and design careers (or businesses) that align with who they are and how they naturally work best is the work I was meant to do.

The best part? I get to bring in all of the best elements of my past careers. Marketing strategy aligns perfectly with creating a job search strategy, recruiting taught me how to match people with the right opportunities, and running a university training program strengthened my ability to teach and guide others through career transitions. Everything I’ve done has led me here, and I love helping others connect the dots in their own careers to build work they truly enjoy.

Over the years, I’ve coached people through major career shifts, business pivots, and marketing strategies that fit their unique strengths and personalities. I’ve also immersed myself in multiple coaching programs—life coaching, career coaching, business coaching, personality psychology—because I believe deeply in this work and in always learning more.

If you’re feeling stuck, I get it—I’ve been there. The good news? There is a solution that works, and it’s not endlessly job-hopping or forcing yourself to fit into a career that doesn’t align with who you are. The key is starting from the inside—getting clear on your strengths, what truly energizes you, and what you really want—then finding a career that fits you, instead of trying to shape yourself to fit a job.

It’s a shift in approach that changes everything. That’s why I love being a career coach for Happen to Your Career. It’s an approach that works, and I can’t wait to help you create an energizing career you truly love.

Outside of coaching, you can usually find me diving into personality psychology, geeking out over marketing strategy (I swear it’s fun!), exploring new hiking trails with my boy and red dog, or hanging out with my horse.

FAVORITE BOOKs

Finding Your Own North Star by Martha Beck – This is the book that started me on my journey to becoming a coach – although I didn’t know it at the time. It taught me valuable lessons about the differences between my true self and social self, and how that impacts your career choices.

Personality Hacker: Harness the Power of Your Personality Type to Transform Your Work, Relationships, and Life by Joel Mark Witt and Antonia Dodge – This book (and their podcast) opened me up to what the MBTI was always meant to be – the code to really understanding your cognitive functions (the work of Carl Jung) and how to use them for your own personal development. It’s deep work but life changing!

Magic Diamond – Dario Nardi – Dr. Dario Nardi is a neuroscientist who studies the brain and maps brain scans to personality styles (yes – I have had mine scanned!). His work goes deep into personality style nuances and sub types. If you’re a personality psychology nerd, this one is for you.

Sparked – Jonathan Field – After years of studying happiness through his books and podcast, The Good Life Project, Jonathan Field created a new way of looking at how we are sparked when it comes to our work. I loved this book so much I took his training and became a Certified Sparketype Advisor.

Deep Work – Cal Newport – This book taught me that it’s not just about the type of work you do, but how you do that work that makes a difference – from your ideal time of day for creative focus, to your right work environment.

FUN FACT

I lived in a yurt in the woods for a year when we couldn’t find a house to buy in our new city (including -30 degree winter weather). I love horses, did endurance riding for years (25-50 mile rides) and am now learning how to sort cows.
