Bio

I grew up taking things apart to see how they worked — including, at age ten or so, a Commodore 64 I’d saved up to buy myself. I still have it. It still works. That instinct never really went away.

The Navy taught me how to run a nuclear reactor and, more usefully, how to stay calm when the stakes are highest and everything is happening at once. From there I spent the better part of two decades building and leading technology companies — GovTech, FinTech, SaaS — across the full lifecycle from startup to scale to turnaround. Four times as CEO. A lot of whiteboards. A lot of coffee. A lot of lessons.

I came to HTYC because the mission is real. Helping people find work that actually fits their life — not just what they fell into — is the kind of problem worth spending serious energy on. I’m here to build the machine that lets our team do that for a lot more people.

WHAT I LOVE

High mountains, strong coffee, character-driven sci-fi, cheering for Denver teams with my kids, aviation (yes, even after the crashes), complicated home projects that Elizabeth is very patient about, and any conversation that goes somewhere unexpected.

FUN FACT

I was in two separate plane crashes before I decided the logical next step was to become a pilot. I’ve climbed over a dozen Colorado 14ers. And I once negotiated a $250 million government contract, which was slightly less nerve-wracking than telling my kids we’re not stopping for fast food.

ASSESSMENTS RESULTS

1. Activator: I’d rather start something imperfect today than plan something perfect indefinitely.
2. Strategic: I see the path through complexity before I can always explain it. I’ve learned to trust that and then do the explaining.
3. Responsibility: If I said I’d do it, it’s done. This is occasionally inconvenient.
4. Relator: I do my best work with people I genuinely trust and who trust me back. Building that is never wasted time.

Why I work with HTYC 

Most people spend more waking hours at work than anywhere else. That’s either a tragedy or an opportunity, depending on whether the work fits. I’ve lived both versions — the grind that drains you and the work that actually lights you up. HTYC exists to help people find the second one. I’m all about that.
